The U.S. Department of Energy and two Turkish government agencies - Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Turkish Scientific and Technology Research Council - will join together from January 29-31 in Istanbul, Turkey to host an American-Turkish conference and workshop on Clean Energy Technologies. This conference is the first of its kind and will serve as a unique opportunity for private sector energy leaders and government officials, from both Turkey and the U.S., to evaluate in more than twenty workshops and seminars the booming Turkish energy market and the role of “green” energy solutions.
The conference will open with a keynote address by Turkey’s Minister of Energy, Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Guler. DOE’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Energy Policy, Alan Hegburg, will present a luncheon speech on U.S. Government regional energy policies. During the conference, U.S. Department of Energy experts, their Turkish counterparts and industry leaders will present state-of-the-art technologies for clean coal, wind, solar, hydro and bio-fuels. Leaders and experts from our national labs, including the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) and Sandia National Laboratory will also participate.
IIn addition to this wide-ranging discussion of clean energy technologies, there will be presentations on American, Turkish and regional energy policies and priorities. This conference was made possible by a unique teaming arrangement with the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the Turkish Scientific and Technology Research Council, and two private sector co-sponsors - the American-Turkish Council and the Turkish-U.S. Business Council.
